The solar project is planned to be accompanied by a 20MWh battery storage system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Situated in one of the country&#8217;s highest solar irradiation zones, developers of the 100-hectare project say it will generate roughly 130 GWh of clean energy annually, connecting to the national grid via the existing Aussenkehr Substation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is being driven by Oryx Orange River Solarpark (Pty) Ltd and managed alongside environmental consultants Geo Pollution Technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) were compiled to minimise ecological and social impacts, culminating in an application for an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) through the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By feeding power into the NamPower grid, the proposed facility will support Namibia&#8217;s domestic generation capacity and reduce reliance on energy imports.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The addition of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is envisaged to further enhance grid stability and energy dispatchability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For EPC contractors, technology providers, equipment manufacturers, investors, lenders and strategic partners, Namibia continues to demonstrate a strong potential as a renewable energy investment destination supported by world class solar resources, expanding grid infrastructure, and growing demand for reliable power.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oryx Orange River Solarpark (Pty) Ltd is pursing plans to build a 50 MW Oryx Orange River Solarpark near Aussenkehr in the \/\/Kharas Region.
