{"id":783,"date":"2025-11-22T11:38:55","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T11:38:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/etangonam.com\/?p=783"},"modified":"2025-11-22T11:38:55","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T11:38:55","slug":"victoria-falls-to-host-2026-sadc-sustainable-energy-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/etangonam.com\/?p=783","title":{"rendered":"Victoria Falls to Host 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zimbabwe will host the 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week (SADC SEW) in Victoria Falls in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SADC SEW 2026 was launched in Harare, Zimbabwe, on 27 October by the country\u2019s Ministry of Energy and Power Development, in partnership with the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) and the SADC Secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Themed&nbsp;<em>\u201cDriving Regional Economic Growth through Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;the event captions the growing urgency for Southern African nations to accelerate the clean energy transition as a driver of sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zimbabwe\u2019s Minister of Energy and Power Development, July Moyo, said the 2026 SADC SEW represents more than just another gathering of stakeholders, but will be a platform for action, innovation, and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEnergy is not just a commodity; it is the backbone of development and a catalyst for prosperity,\u201d said Minister Moyo. \u201cThis launch reaffirms our collective commitment to building a region powered by clean, reliable, and affordable energy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moyo commended SACREEE and the SADC Secretariat for their continued efforts to promote regional integration and renewable energy adoption for an energy secure region. He also extended appreciation to development partners, the private sector, and civil society for supporting efforts aimed at improving energy access across Southern Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2026 SADC SEW will take place from&nbsp;<strong>23 to 27 February 2026<\/strong>&nbsp;at The Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls. The week-long event will feature ministerial deliberations, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soltrain.org\/\">9<sup>th<\/sup> SOLTRAIN Conference<\/a>, exhibitions, technical site visits, and the SADC SEW Awards, recognizing excellence in energy innovation, access, and efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event is expected to attract more than 500 participants from across the SADC region, including Energy Ministers, investors, innovators, regional institutions, and community leaders. It will build on regional frameworks such as the SADC Protocol on Energy (1996) and the Africa Single Electricity Market (AfSEM), while supporting the implementation of the Dar es Salaam Declaration (2025), which aims to electrify 300 million Africans through national Energy Compacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHosting the SADC Sustainable Energy Week in Victoria Falls is symbolic, it reflects Africa\u2019s balance between natural power and human ingenuity,\u201d Minister Moyo noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SACREEE Executive Director, Kudakwashe Ndhlukula, gave an overview of the 2026 programme which will focus on six thematic areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Policy and Governance \u2013 promoting collaboration and harmonized energy policies.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Universal Access and Just Transition \u2013 addressing rural electrification and clean cooking and productive use.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financing and Innovation \u2013 attracting investment and supporting energy minerals development.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grid interconnectivity, market integration and cross border power trade, integrating digital and renewable energy and storage systems.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy Efficiency and Industry \u2013 enhancing competitiveness through sustainable energy.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emerging Solutions \u2013 exploring critical minerals, artificial intelligence and carbon trading.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the countdown to the 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week begins, the organisers stand poised to host a transformative gathering that will shape the region\u2019s energy future &#8211; one that promises to inspire collaboration, unlock investment, and accelerate Southern Africa\u2019s collective journey toward a cleaner and more resilient energy landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>For more information on how you can be part of the 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week, visit&nbsp;<u>https:\/\/sadcenergyweek.org\/<\/u>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zimbabwe will host the 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week (SADC SEW) in Victoria Falls in February.
