{"id":868,"date":"2026-03-04T14:29:39","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T14:29:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/etangonam.com\/?p=868"},"modified":"2026-03-04T14:29:39","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T14:29:39","slug":"green-screen-hub-to-promote-public-dialogue-around-namibias-green-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/etangonam.com\/?p=868","title":{"rendered":"Green Screen Hub to Promote Public Dialogue Around Namibia\u2019s Green Future"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Eco Dialogue Collective (EDC) project has launched <em>The Green Screen<\/em>, a pioneering media and civil society hub dedicated to advancing transparency and public dialogue around Namibia\u2019s green future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform, which will serve as a central resource for high-quality, investigative, and explanatory content on green growth, extractive industries, energy, and environmental governance, was commissioned in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">European Union Ambassador to Namibia Ana Beatriz Martins underscored the importance of the media and civil society in facilitating informed debate and providing reliable information to the public about the green transition in Namibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis project is about ensuring that diverse perspectives from the various stakeholders that play a role in this journey towards green industrialisation, but also towards extractive industries, in particular oil, where there are very good prospects for Namibia to become an important player in the oil sector,\u201d stated Ambassador Martins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project leads, Peter Deselaers and Dickson Kasote, detailed <em>The Green Screen\u2019s <\/em>mission to not only produce in-depth reports, documentaries, and policy briefs but also to build the capacity of journalists, researchers, and civil society actors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A key highlight was the panel discussion on \u201cTransparency in the Energy Sector,\u201d moderated by <em>The Green Screen <\/em>editor Shelleygan Petersen. The dialogue emphasised the need for robust oversight, accessible data, and collaborative journalism to ensure that Namibia\u2019s energy and natural resource wealth benefits all its citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>The Green Screen <\/em>ushers a new era for journalism, research and policy advocacy in energy and environmental issues in Namibia,\u201d said Dickson Kasote, the Foundation\u2019s Project Lead for the EDC project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Green Screen <\/em>is a core component of the European Union-funded \u201cEco Dialogue Collective &#8211; Empowering Media and Civil Society for a Transparent Green Future\u201d implemented in partnership by the NMT Media Foundation, DW Akademie, the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), and the Legal Assistance Centre (LAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform became operational in January, offering its resources and facilities to support research, media production, and skills development aimed at ensuring an accountable and sustainable path forward for Namibia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Eco Dialogue Collective (EDC) project has launched The Green Screen, a pioneering media and civil society hub dedicated to advancing transparency and public dialogue around Namibia\u2019s green future.
