The City of Windhoek is launching the Windhoek Solar Centre, a new knowledge hub aimed at promoting the adoption of solar technologies throughout the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The establishment of the solar centre is funded by a \u20ac212,750 (approximately N$4.3 million) grant from Engagement Global gGmbH through its \u201cNakopa \u2013 Sustainable Community Development through Partnership Projects\u201d program. Engagement Global is a German non-profit organisation that serves as a central point of contact for development policy work, promoting fair global cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Windhoek Solar Centre will provide product-neutral consultations, training, and awareness programs for residents, institutions, and communities to help them make informed decisions about solar technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Windhoek Solar Centre is a collaboration between the City of Windhoek and the City of Berlin, and is modelled on the highly successful Berlin Solar Centre. It will serve as an independent information and knowledge hub aimed at promoting the adoption of solar energy throughout the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
City of Windhoek officials recently embarked on a familiarisation tour to the Berlin Solar Centre. Engagements have also held with the Renewable Energy Industry Association of Namibia (REIAoN) to explore collaboration possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Windhoek Solar Centre will provide impartial, product-neutral consultations, as well as customized training and awareness programs focused on solar technologies, tailored to meet the needs and interests of residents, including those in informal settlements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative also aims to educate and empower residents, institutions, and community stakeholders by showcasing the benefits and potential of solar energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
